Beach day! Sorry if this is phoning it in, but man, it has been SO DARN HOT. Do I have the energy to get creative with the shots? Absolutely not! Did I have some beach day pics ready to go? Yes indeed! August is the hottest month (unless September is hot, in which case its the HOTTEST month), and its just too hot to do anything other than lay around sweating bullets and eating popsicles. We actually went to Ikea yesterday just to enjoy the AC - we left $60 lighter, but two shelves and a nightlight heavier. Rather costly for two hours of A/C, come to think of it.

When Nate saw this picture, he thought James was smiling. I think that's more a look of terror! Is that mean? Should I have rushed in to save him instead of chuckling that a wave got him? He was ok! really!

But look what a big boy he is! He went right back in. We have been doing beach day for months now, and this is the first time he has actually gone into the water! I knew it would happen one of these days, and am happy to say, he loves it :)

This was the day of the seashore critters. We found a sea slug washed onto the beach, and the kids carried it around like a treasure. They were gathered around the bucket in a little knot, discussing their find for a good hour or so. When it was finally time to take it back, an obliging dad swam it out past the surf and put it at the bottom. As you can see, the kids also dug up some monster sand crabs, there were (of course) lots of sea gulls, and I couldn't catch a picture of it, but we even saw a sea lion only about 15 feet from the shore!
